Review: Becasse and Maple & Market Bakery Cafe
I'm BACK! Today I would be doing a review on Becasse Bakery and Maple & Market Bakery Cafe! (Mainly desserts, pastries etc.)
Becasse
Ion Orchard #04-27-32
10am - 10pm daily
Located in ION, Beccase
is an Australian brand that is being brought in by Jones the Grocer. Becasse is
a French inspired luxury brand and the new store here in Ion will lead the
brand’s further expansion into Singapore, Asia and beyond. Becasse's pastries
are handcrafted in house so you would expect high quality pastries from this
place.
High Tea set is
available from 3pm-6pm. I have yet to try it yet but my friend told me that the
High Tea set is super good for the price you pay. She was the one that
introduced this place to me as she was invited by ION for food tasting.
There are also wide varieties of special leaf teas to choose from.
There are many different varieties of pastries to choose from
This french crepe costs $9
The crepe was nice and it wasn’t very sweet. I’m someone who doesn’t really like sweet stuffs. Thus, it bothers me a lot if the desserts are too sweet but this is really just nice. The additional berries make this dessert slightly a healthier choice too.
Banana Tart with Salted Peanut Brittle - $4.90. Most of the Patisseries are of the same price.
Classy setting
Firstly, I got to say that the service was good and the ambience of the place is even better! The place is really classy and atas as the store has its origins in high-end pastisserie and bakery. Accompanied with the restaurant’s setting, it is designed to make you feel like you are dining in Paris!
Another picture of myself while eating the tart.
Maple & Market Bakery Café
34 Cassia Crescent, #01-82
Tel: +65 6348 8068 Mon: 12pm – 8pm Wed to Fri: 12pm – 9pm Sat: 10am – 10pm Sun: 10am – 9pm
Maple & Market Bakery Café is located at Cassia Crescent and just 5 minutes walk from Old Airport Road Food Market. A humble store in and old neighbourhood, the café boasts delicious and mouth watering pastries and waffles (YES, THE WAFFLES ARE AWESOME)!!
This little humble bakery cafe
When I first stepped into the café, I was like “Shit, this café is really very very small!”Indeed, the café is only able to accommodate up to 12 customers at a time. Thus, orders and takeaways are encouraged unless you have the time to wait for the seats. The café is super cosy. Nice decorations and the availability of many books and magazines (doesn’t matter if you use it to read or for photo-taking).
Part of the decorations on the table. Gives off a cottage-feel!
The cakes are nicely displayed and I was standing there with my friends for a good 10 minutes just to decide which one to get as all of them look awesome! And yes, they do not serve mains here; just waffle, pastries and drinks.
I wanted to order the Rootbeer Cake with Pistachio but my friend don't really like Pistachio :(
The cakes are all so pretty
I ordered the MYCC Blossom (the last slice) and it was really good. The sweetness and texture was really just nice.
In all, all the cakes are just lovely and you guys should just try all of them.
Blossoms
That said, I preferred their waffle more than the pastries. In fact, I think their waffles are even nicer than Stranger’s Reunion waffle!
This Caramalized Bananas, Walnuts and Homemade Caramel Sauce Buttermilk Waffles cost only $9 and it is worth every penny of it. Every bite of it accompanied with a sip of mocha is the definition of
LIFE.
EXCELLENT WAFFLES! MUST HAVE!
A cup of mocha is a MUST to perk you up on a lazy afternoon.
